There are well over 200 hundred search engines on the Internet. You may be familiar with the most well known search engines, of Google, Yahoo and MSN. These sites are considered the big three of the search engine world, but there are many more. Here is a short list of ten search engine sites that you may or may not be familiar:
When you have your site up and running, one of the first tasks you should assign yourself is to begin submitting your site URL to all of the search engines that will accept your site. URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. Your URL is your web site address starting with “www” and ending with “com, net, or org”. To find the submission page for the search engine, look for a link that says “Submit your URL”. This link is typically located at the bottom of the home page for the most prominent search engines, while for the less prominent they are located at the top.
You can even use search engine submission services to submit your site URL to the various search engines. For a list of submission sites, just type “Free URL Submission” into any one of the search engines mentioned above and you should get ample options. Do not pay for any submission services, there are enough free offerings.
